How I Can Help

Clients often come to me feeling overwhelmed and exhausted by the painful thoughts running                                        through their minds all day.

Perhaps it is an unrelenting inner-critic who never lets you feel good enough. Or a list of                                                anxious “what if’s” that keeps you awake at night, preparing for the worst.

For some, it is scary or shameful thoughts that come out of nowhere. Others feel haunted by a                                              frightening or confusing experience from the past.

You may struggle with thoughts about suicide or self harm.

As a result, you feel stressed, depressed, or ashamed and you see the effect on your behavior,                                           work, and  relationships.

I use research-based therapeutic techniques to help you better understand how your difficult thoughts and                      emotions have developed and teach skills to help you take control.

Wondering How Therapy Works?

My approach to providing therapy prioritizes two components: The relationship between you and I, and therapeutic techniques based in science.

Research shows that a trusting therapeutic relationship between a therapist and client is one of the strongest contributors to positive change in therapy. That means, our work together will be collaborative, respectful, and tailored to your strengths and needs. But beyond that, therapists differ greatly in the techniques they use to help clients. As a psychologist, I rely on research to inform the approaches I use, which means that there is evidence to indicate that these techniques are likely to help.

I am passionate about making mental health therapy accessible to everyone; especially those who never thought they were the "therapy type."

Therapeutic Approaches:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Let's explore how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors interact to address difficulties with anxiety/stress, mood, and general difficulties in adjustment.

  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP): I am certified in ERP for Obsessive- Compulsive Disorder. ERP is the most evidence-based approach treating this debilitating condition.

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT): I am certified in TF-CBT to address child and adolescent trauma and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

  • Prolonged Exposure Therapy: I utilize prolonged exposure to address PTSD and trauma in older adolescents and adults.

  • Depression and Anxiety associated with Pregnancy and Postpartum: I have received specialized training to provide CBT treatment for individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, or OCD during pregnancy and the postpartum period.
